Your Crampon pedals take a beating—mud, rock strikes, hard resets—and over time, the internals can wear out, pins bend or snap, and that buttery-smooth spin is replaced by a loose, noisy feel. Our Canfield Factory Pedal Rebuild Service brings your pedals back to as-new condition, internals and all, so you can get back to riding instead of wrenching.
Service Includes:
Complete teardown and cleaning of your pedal bodies
Replacement of bushings and bearings using genuine factory-spec parts
Replacement of any broken traction pins
Spindle cleaned and freshly greased (spindle not replaced as part of this service)
Expert reassembly to Canfield factory specifications
All parts and labor included—no separate parts purchase required
Note: We inspect both the spindle and pedal body as part of every rebuild. If they're in good condition and within specification, we'll rebuild your pedals and send them back ready to ride. If we find damage or excessive wear to either component, we'll contact you before proceeding to discuss the available replacement options. There are never any surprise charges.
What You Can Expect After Service:
Smooth, quiet pedal rotation with fresh internals
Full traction restored with new pins
Extended service life for your pedals
Ride harder, ride smoother—trust Canfield for precision service.
How It Works
We make it simple and hassle-free to get your Crampons back to full strength.
- Remove Your Pedals
Remove your pedals from your crank arms. Before packing them up, give them a quick wash. They don't need to be spotless, but we'd rather not receive half of your local trail with them.
- Send Them to Us
Package your pedals securely and ship them to:

How Do I Know If My Crampon Pedals Need Service?
Crampon pedals are exposed to mud, grit, water, repeated rock strikes, and thousands of hard pedal strokes. Even if the pedal body still looks great, the internal bushings, bearings, seals, and pins wear over time.
Before You Schedule a Rebuild
Hearing a light rattle?A light rattle is usually the first sign that the grease inside the pedal has dried out or washed away. Before scheduling a rebuild, remove the nut (and end cap on MTN), add a small dab of grease to the spindle, and reassemble the pedal. In most cases, this will eliminate the noise and keep your pedals running smoothly.
Your Pedals May Be Ready for a Rebuild If:
The rattle returns shortly after greasing.
The pedal body has noticeable play on the spindle.
The pedal feels rough, gritty, or notchy when rotated by hand.
The pedals have seen extensive wet, muddy, or dusty riding without service.
Traction pins are bent, damaged, or missing.
The pedals feel noticeably rougher or looser than when new.
Simple Ways to Check Your Pedals
Grab & Rock Test
With the pedal installed on the bike—while holding the crank steady—grab the pedal body and try to rock it side to side and front to back. Any noticeable play usually indicates worn bushings, bearings or spring and washer hardware.
Spin Test
Spin the pedal body by hand. It should rotate smoothly and consistently. Grinding, resistance, or a rough, notchy feel means it's time for a rebuild.
Pin Inspection
Inspect the traction pins for bends, missing pins, or broken tips. Damaged pins reduce grip and rider confidence, especially in wet or technical terrain.
If you're experiencing any of these symptoms—or it's simply been a season or two of hard riding since your last service—it's a great time to send your pedals in. Regular rebuilds keep your pedals spinning smoothly, restore maximum grip, extend the life of the pedal, and help avoid the expense of replacing the entire pedal. Keep the scratches. They prove you've been there.
